What A Great Road Trip!

Photo of a sunrise over Lake Superior (the picture doesn't do it justice)

I just re-read the very first post I wrote...Wow, it was almost one year ago! At that time I was living a life of uncertainty and feeling kind of scared about moving and leaving all I knew at the time, but also really excited to take the road less traveled. Granted, it was hard to take that sharp turn to the right and exit into the unknown, but it was so worth it! When we were kids my family took many road trips across the U.S. and I have so many memories to go along with those trips. We faced tall mountains, which we needed to climb, beautiful sunsets that made us cry, amazing people who touched our lives and of course, some flat tires along the way, but if we would have just stayed home and not gone out on all of our adventures we would have never had the chance to experience all of those beautiful sights and bumps along the way. Now, looking back into my rear view mirror, I see all the wonderful things I have left behind, but looking straight ahead, at where I am now is just as amazing.

GO Twins!

We went to the Twins game last weekend with our old neighbors and it was a BLAST!! The kids had fun watching the game and of course eating all kinds of snacks. When we left the game, Elsa and Cade were super tired and all sugared up. Oh yeah, and the twins lost : (

SPARE

This weekend our family decided to break away from the confines of our home and the Wii and go out real bowling. It was such a blast! It got me thinking about the game of bowling and how it is a lot like life. For instance, in bowling we try to knock all the pins down on the first try and sometimes we succeed and sometimes we don't, but the wonderful part about life and bowling is that there is always room for a second chance...a chance to get it right and if you don't get it right the second time, guess what? There is always the next frame.

New Found Appreciation

So I have been kind of depressed about the whole winter thing for about a month now, but last weekend I decided that I am going to go out and embrace the chilly season. My family decided to celebrate an old fashioned Christmas together. We all met at our family cabin in the woods. The first thing we did was go out and cut down a little Charlie Brown tree. We made a stand and decorated the little tree with our old ornaments. We listened to our favorite christmas music and had so much fun spending time with one another. We stayed at the cabin for three days and during that time we all really enjoyed ourselves and the slow pace. We spent time snowmobiling, snowshoeing, sliding, ice fishing, taking saunas, drinking, making igloos, snowboarding, sitting around the fire, playing games and much more. So no more complaining about winter, I am going to go out and take advantage of all the fun things that winter has to offer. What's the use wishing and hoping for spring to arrive? I might as well enjoy all that Minnesota has to offer right now.
